Share Your San José Story!
California of the Past
San José Public Library, in collaboration with San José State University Library's Cultural Heritage Center, invites you to record and share your San José story on a Digital Story Station and become a part of California of the Past, an initiative of the California State Library that seeks to preserve and share the living memories of community members.
Our pilot phase focused initially on collecting stories of San José's Latino community. View some of the interesting stories resulting from that project. The program is now open to participation from anyone who has a story they would like to share about living and/or working in San Jose. Our goal remains to capture a wide range of stories and themes that explore and build local community.
All you need is:
- A story to tell
- Photos to illustrate the story, if available (digital copies on CD or a digital camera memory card are ideal, but a scanner will be available if needed)
- Home movies on DVD or VHS
If you don't have photos or video, you can still tell a story!
You will get a copy on DVD to keep and the opportunity to share your story online with friends, family, historians, researchers and students.
If you are interested in sharing your story or would like to know more about this project, please stop by the King Library to make an appointment to record your digital story. You may also contact Stacy Mueller of the California Room at (408) 808-2136.
California of the Past is funded by a grant from the California State Library.
