Paper Towns
by John Green

The way I figure it, everyone gets a miracle. Like, I will probably never be struck by lightning, or win a Nobel Prize, or become the dictator of a small nation in the Pacific Islands, or contract terminal ear cancer, or spontaneously combust. But if you consider all the unlikely things together, at least one of them will probably happen to each of us. I could have seen it rain frogs. I could have stepped on Mars. I could have been eaten by a whale. I could have married the queen of England or survived months at sea. But my miracle was different. My miracle was this: out of all the houses in all the subdivisions in all of Florida, I ended up living next door to Margo Roth Spiegelman.

Everyone is always talking about Margo Roth Spiegelman, whose wild adventures have made her a high school legend. Quentin-Q to his friends-is one of her classmates and, by chance, also her next door neighbor. When Margo and Q were kids, they were friends, but as teens they move in very different social circles. He hangs out with the band nerds, while she's the star of the school's coolest crowd.

One night Q hears his window being opened from the outside. It's Margo, dressed like a ninja, and she wants his help. "I need a car," she tells Q. "Also, I need you to drive it, because I have eleven things to do tonight, and at least five of them involve a getaway man."

It's a night that changes Q's life, and, he hopes, his friendship with Margo, who he's always had a crush on. But when he gets to school the next day, he discovers that Margo is nowhere to be found. It's not the first time she's disappeared on an adventure, but this time seems different. And the only clues she's left behind are meant for Q..

Can Q solve the mystery that Margo left him? Did anyone-Q, or her friends, or her family-ever know the real Margo to begin with? Read Paper Towns by John Green to find out.
