RESERVE A COMPUTER TEMPORARY ACCESS GUIDELINES

print thisPrint This

Text
The Reserve A Computer software enables library users to access a specific computer for a timed period.

The following are guidelines to be followed by library staff in the provision of this service.

In order to use this software the user must have a library card and a pin number. Library cards are available to all residents of California. Specific rules may be found at the King Library Card information web page. Using a library card to access this software is the preferred method of access, as it provides the fairest use of a limited and highly popular resource.

In some cases a “temporary patron barcode” which allows access to computer workstations is available at the Information Desk and should be offered on a temporary case by case basis, providing the customer is over the age of 18. Some scenarios for offering the temporary access option include:

1. User is an out of town and needs to access email.
2. The Millennium Circulation system is down and since the RAC software accesses this system, patron numbers cannot be verified.
3. An adult who has forgotten his or her card ID and PIN number does not have proper identification.
