Statement of Policy & Text
This policy establishes the location requirements for non-English newspapers and non-English magazines held by SJPL and SJSU in the King Library.
  • Non-English newspapers and magazines held by SJPL King LIbrary Branch are located in the Languages area, 3rd floor.
  • Non-English magazines held by the SJSU Library are located in the Lower Level.
  • Non-English magazines held by the SJSU Library that are not duplicates of those owned by the SJPL are located in the Lower Level, Periodical Browsing area.

Need for the Policy
Both the University and the City subscribe to non-English language periodicals, which are for convenience of users, located in various areas of the Library.

Requirements & Guidelines
  • In the King Libary, all of the non-English SJPL-owned material is located in General Collections/3rd floor Languages area.
  • In the King Library, all of the SJSU owned non-English newspapers and non-English magazines are located in the Lower Level Periodicals Collection, except for Cultural Heritage Center materials.


Applicable Personnel/Departments
All, especially Languages, Access Services, and Special Collections areas such as the SJSU Cultural Heritage Center.
