SMOKING AND OTHER TOBACCO PRODUCTS USE POLICY

Statement of Policy & Text
Use of tobacco products in any form is prohibited in the King Library. No area of the building is exempt from this prohibition.

Outside the Library building, smoking is prohibited within 25 feet of all building entrances.

Need for the Policy
  • The King Library has a commitment to provide patrons and employees with a healthy environment in which to study and work.
  • The Library must also comply with university policy, state and local laws prohibiting smoking in public places.


Requirements & Guidelines
  • State of California Code #19994.30 (AB291), City of San Jose Municipal Code 9.44.030, CSU Executive Order #599, and SJSU Academic Senate Smoking Policy S03-06 prohibit smoking in any public building and within 25 feet of building entrances. (See References below.)
  • Appropriate signs will be posted and maintained to clearly state this policy.

All Library employees and library security personnel.
