King Library will circulate headphones and phonograph needles to be used at the listening stations on the fifth floor as well as in the listening rooms on the sixth floor. Keys to the listening rooms on the sixth floor (rooms 602 and 604) will also be circulated.
Need for the Policy
Patrons need equipment in order to listen to records, cassettes, or cds in the library without disturbing other patrons.
Keeping equipment at the listening stations would increase the theft rate.
Circulating the listening room keys enables a more effective monitoring of room usage.
Requirements & Guidelines
Listening equipment and listening room keys can be checked out for only two hours and are not renewable.
Listening equipment and listening room keys cannot be checked out by “temporary” borrowers.
Fines for overdue equipment or listening room keys are $10 per hour.
