Statement of Policy & Text
The Africana, Asian American, Chicano, & Native American Studies Center (formerly the Cultural Heritage Center) of the King Library houses appropriate newspapers and other periodicals that reflect the cultural diversity and educational goals of this Center.
The Center has on display a collection of current periodicals and other materials that are acquired at no cost. These materials are provided free of charge to users to enhance the community atmosphere of the Center.
Newspapers and other periodicals may be duplicates of those available in the King Library periodicals collection, if duplication is deemed necessary to meet the needs of Center users.
Need for the Policy
The Africana, Asian American, Chicano, & Native American Studies Center provides free periodicals to Center users that need to be displayed and readily available.
Requirements & Guidelines
- SJSU subscription issues of El Observador, La Oferta, and La Raza are processed and checked into the 3rd floor Languages Section of the King Library.
- Only the current issues of free magazines and other periodicals are displayed in the Center.
- The Africana, Asian American, Chicano, & Native American Studies Center Librarian will determine retention or cancellation of non-English periodicals that duplicate those in the general Library collection.

All Library Staff especially, Africana, Asian American, Chicano, & Native American Studies Center staff.
